About Us

History

The Westmoreland  Garden Council  is located in the Greensburg Civic Center building on Old Salem Road. (Formerly the Greensburg Garden Center)

W.G.C. was established in 1960, when the current Civic Center building was completed in 1969.  The WGC office includes an extensive horticulture library, workroom, storage area, garden house and the beautiful LeFevre Butterfly Garden located behind the Civic Center in the lower parking lot.

Surrounding the building are 4+ acres which include an arboretum planted in 1969. Currently WGC is working with The Westmoreland Trust, The McKenna Foundation, and the city of Greensburg to refresh the arboretum. The ultimate goal is to  perform an extensive Arboretum Restoration and continue growth.

The Westmoreland  Garden Council  continues today with a large membership and volunteers governed by an elected board.
